Hello and happy September! Are you ready for fall? I’m especially excited for the weather to cool down. In fact, it’s early, but I think I’m already starting to look forward to October and November and the holiday season as well…
With September comes the start of fall and cooler weather, but most importantly for some, the start of the school year. So to get in the mood, I baked some cute sandwich-shaped cookies that are all based on actual sandwich flavors! These are tasty, a lot of fun to make, and even great as a little treat to stuff into kid’s lunchboxes (to go along with their actual sandwiches 🙂 ).
When I was young, my mother used to be in love with these Taiwanese milk-flavored nougat candies. We didn’t buy them all the time since they weren’t cheap, but when we did, we couldn’t keep our hands out of the box. They were white in color with almonds mixed throughout, and were quite hard and solid until you popped one into your mouth, where it would then magically soften into an irresistibly chewy, milky, decadent gob.
